Windows 10: 30 days / 10 days period re: anniversary update

As I understand it, with the new anniversary update after 10 days one will get disk space back relating to Windows.old being deleted automatically (if PC is left idle for a while).

i also believe that if a PC upgrades to Windows 10 then the new anniversary update wouldn't be offered until 30 days have elapsed. However with the aforementioned change to 10 days for rolling back the anniversary update I wonder if that now also rings true for previous 10586/TH2 build? We got a new mini PC approx 10 days ago, Windows 10 was pre installed but it was a really old build, pre 10586/TH2. I checked for updates and it immediately set about updating to last novembers 10586. However I am now confused as to whether I need to wait 10 days or 30 days for Windows update to offer it the new Anniversary update. I am totally happy to wait for Windows update to do its thing rather than use MCT etc, just curious about the timescales involved given MS has changed from 30 to 10 on the latest version

30 Day Waiting Period

Under Settings>Accounts>Your Email and Accounts, does her Microsoft Account show up at the top of the page?

If not, then you will have to add on on the link 'add a Microsoft Account'

If there is an account, but you can't use it properly, check that she can log into her account on account.microsoft.com.

Here, you can also check that her security information is correct. If she has 2-step verification, then either her mobile phone number or an email address (not @outlook.com/@hotmail.com) that can be accessed on her PC is listed.

If her account shows up, but you are getting constant fix it messages, then you will need to reset the phone and re-add the account (once a Microsoft Account is added to a Windows Phone, then the only way to remove/change it is to reset it)

Make sure you have backed up the phone first and have tried logging into the account on an incognito/inprivate browser on the PC (So that the page isn't recalling saved cookies and passwords).

On the phone's setup page after the reset, add in her Microsoft Account information and it should work no problem.

Before resetting the phone, make sure that you have waited until the security lock-out time has passed, otherwise it could roll over. In the meantime, under Settings>accounts>your email and accounts, you could try and add her Microsoft Account as a new
email account so that she can access her emails on her phone.

 

30 Day Waiting Period

We moved, and I bought my wife a new Lumia 950. She was prompted to update her security info. She no longer has access to the old email so she indicated that. It blocker her with the well known "30 day waiting period." The period is supposed to end at the
end of January, 2016.

She CAN send/receive email from her computer, but she CANNOT send/receive email from her Lumia 950. It just continues to give her errors saying that she needs to fix her settings, she needs to wait 30 days, etc.

The phone is having all kind of other major issues - won't download anything (possibly because the account issue, random "low storage" errors when there is plenty of storage.
