Windows 10: 30 years and still a 2 fingered typist --should I learn the piano --!!

Hi there
I'm getting really embarassed now --I'm still after around 30 years still mainly using 2 fingers for typing and looking at the keyboard - even after 30 years

Anyway easy way to start to start using keyboards properly - when I see some youngsters clicking away on them so fast - I'd still be 5 pages behind after they've completed their exercises.

Perhaps I should start taking Piano Lessons to start learning to use all fingers.

Any other 2-fingered typists here too !!!!

Are there any Windows decent typist / keyboard exercises -- that's why I've posted here rather than in the "Chillout Room" area .

My cursor disappears or moves to the front of a sentence, Windows 10

My cursor disappears or moves to the front of a sentence. I am a 2 finger typist. I have covered the touch pad and that does no good. I have a Dell Inspiron. The touch pad can not be made inactive. Thanks

Is there a way to lock-out the "caps Lock" key. I am a 2 finger typist and keep hitting it my mistake.

Asus can't do it. Is it possible in word or outlook etc?

Jimbo, it isn't a matter of learning to use all fingers. It is a matter of knowing where to put those fingers. I'm the same as you, except it has probably been more than 30 years for me. If I knew of an easy way to learn how, I would be typing 95 correct words per minute. Unfortunately it is closer to 15.

 

The thing that helped me was getting a split keyboard, I find it a far more natural way to type.

I recall in junior high school that I had to sign up for a class and I took keyboarding. I honestly thought that it was a music class.

I got into the classroom and was horrified to see rows of IBM Selectric II's. My only other option during this period was study hall and I didn't want that, so I just dealt with the class.

In high school, I had to take 2 semesters of business typing. I thought to myself, what a waste of time, when am I going to really make use of this skill.

Now in hindsight, my ability to type is the most used skill that I brought forth from school, aside maybe from spelling.

I'm not the fastest typer in the world, but I sit around 70WPM from this test site.

30 yrs here 2 and i use 4 progressed from 2 whoop whoop *Smile

 

I learned in high school during my free periods using Mavis Beaking Typing Tutor.
