Windows 10: 32-bit applications unable to run after Windows 7 to Windows 10 update

Hello,


I recently updated a Windows 7 to Windows 10 PC and now I can't open/run any 32-bit applications on the PC.

The 32-bit application gets stuck as a Background Process and a the Windows Error Reporter (32-bit) process starts up.

Over 20 Windows Error Reporter processes start up, assuming one for each 32-bit application/service that is starting up.

It might be affecting Window Error Reporter, we it might be opening a new process for its own process?

Its hard to tell since there is so many running.


It affects both applications I start and services that run in 32-bit.

64-bit applications (like Chrome) work fine though.


Disabling the Windows Error Reporter service does get rid of the process.

But then 32-bit applications don't even show up in the task manager when launched.


But if I go to Safe Mode, the applications run like normal.


It seems something is blocking or crashing 32-bit applications from running on the system, but I can't seem to find the setting to fix it.


Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 7 32 vs.64 Perormance Increase

Performance increase is there, but for 64-bit native applications mostly. 32-bit applications (except 32-bit drivers) should run fine with at least same speed as on Windows 7 32-bit. Performance increase vary depending on the hardware & application(s) u will use. Some says that it is up to 10% generally (google.com).
I currently feel more stability, security, and slight speed enhancement for all application (32-bit + 64-bit) I use on my Windows 7 RTM 64-bit with no compatibility issues till now for all softwares (off course drivers should be 64-bit + up to date).

 

How to run a software developed for 32-bit Windows 7 32 on Windows 10 64-bit

I purchased a CAD software that was developed for 32-bit Windows 7. The seller send me an installation zip file but I cannot install it. The seller suggested to install a virtual 32-bit Windows, so I could install and use it.

Windows 10 Snipping Tool on Windows 7

All it is is one extra step beyond what is native to windows 10. Yes, technically it would be easier to have the functionality of print built in to the Windows 7 version, but you just have to save it ,and right click on it ,and print.

As far as getting the windows 10 version into windows7. I know there was a way to get the old winpaint, so maybe there's a way to get the snipping tool into 10, I don't know.
