32GB SSD netbook - Blank laptop but not enough room to update

    Hi all

I've got a Dell Inspiron 11 with 32GB SSD. I've been trying for...maybe a year...to install the Windows 10 update. This isn't my main computer, but I'd still like to be able to use it without the constant warnings that my Windows is not supported. Each time, I try for a day or two quite literally hours at a time, but give up because it just doesn't seem possible.

I've cleared everything from my computer. I have no additional programs installed. I've uninstalled any included programs that can be uninstalled with admin permissions. I have no files saved. Nothing. There's literally the operating system and the unremovable programs that are left. However, it tells me that I still need more space.

I've tried using a reformatted 32GB USB to use as an external installer for the installation. No dice. Mostly, it just won't give me the option to select external storage. On occasion, it will tell me that I can install using the USB but, after some time of processing, it tells me that it still needs 2.4GB of space in C:\ to be able to install the update. I don't know why it can't just stick to using the USB.

I've tried downloading the installer. I've tried downloading the ISO and making a USB bootable it doesn't have a CD drive. No luck there. I still don't have enough room even when there is plenty of room on the empty USB, it still wants to use part of C. I've tried opening the setup file from the ISO file. All of these things still require space on C:\. I literally cannot delete anything more. Everything else I try to delete is unable to be deleted.

As none of that worked, and I have no files on it, I decided to just do a clean install. Nope. That also needs 2.1GB more space than my laptop can physically give and this space must be on C, rather than on an external drive.

Is there anything that I can do to try to update my computer? There's nothing on it anymore everything has always been saved to an external SD card.

    :)

[WTB]   SSD 32gb or 64gb for HP Netbook

I should have clarified, I am installing the SSD in a netbook. Maybe just change my thread title to WTB "SSD 32gb or 64gb" thanks

  3. 1909 update on laptop with 32gb ssd

    Hi Microsoft Community!

How can I update my laptop (32gb ssd) to 1909 version?

I use a USB stick and the best free space I can get from the C: is 3.24 GB but the update keeps asking me to find 2 Gb more which is impossible!

    Any help?

1909 update on laptop with 32gb ssd

You are welcome. I have a Lenovo Edge 590 that had a 32GB M2 SSD as primary along with a slot for a larger SSD. As the 32GB was the C:\ drive I had to replace it. I went to a 250GB M2 SSD along with my 500GB SSD

All it took was my small screw driver and being careful.
