Windows 10: 3D Display Mode crashes HDMI output after windows 11 update

Hi,After iwindows was updated to windows 11, while i was configuring some display settings i accidentally switched on the the 3D Display mode and HDMI output of my Huawei laptop started not working. After plugging out the HDMI cable and trying to fix the problem i couldn’t find any option to switch off the 3D Display Mode again and i couldn’t see the same set of settings again at all! I restarted the computer several times and since the action took place just after the update there was no restore point which i can trace back to before it. just to understand some constraints:

• HDMI is electrically compatible with DVI
• DP outputs from most PCs have an HDMI compatibility mode that allows for:
  • DP-to-HDMI passive adapters [passive means it just uses wiring (no ICs) between the connectors]
  • DP-to-DVI passive adapters
• In contrast, the USB Type-C output on the Lumia 950XL/950 phone and the DP output on the Display Dock do not have HDMI compatibility mode. To drive HDMI, DVI (or VGA), they require active adapters incorporating bridge ICs. The tipoff is usually that such
  an adapter costs $20-$40 instead of ~$10 for a passive adapter. There’s no good way to tell active versus passive other than by part # and spec.

 

3D mode option missing in Display settings after update

In order to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the following details:

• Which 3D mode option in Display setting are you referring?
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  
• Which update was installed on the computer? To check go to
  Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Update >> View update history.
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type:
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  

The 3D mode option depends on the Graphics driver that you are using. You may try updating the Graphics driver and check if you are able to watch 3D movies and get the option.



Please refer the steps mentioned below to update Graphics drivers:

1. Press Windows key + X, and select
   Device Manager.
   
2. Expand Display adapters.
   
3. Right click on the display driver and select
   Update Drivers.
   
4. Restart the computer if prompted.
