  1. 3D Mark

I have tried numerous times to reinstall 3D Mark and it just will not install. Every time I try I get the following messages (see screen shots) The program is definitely not installed anywhere on my computer but it seems to think it is.

    Anyone got any ideas here?

    :)

  2. 3D Builder Faulty?

Even worse paint 3D is kindergarten finger painting compared to 3D Builder.

    I've just downloaded FreeCAD.

I'm not allowed to mark my own post as an answer so Mods please mark it for me.

  3. Windows Mobile Device Center not allowing syncs for various items!

Tried that already. It just doesn't allow check marks on those boxes. It looks like the image of the checkboxes are different. Like it's "flat" vs. 3D.

If you haven't gone for the latest release of the particular version you had on that would likely be explained by not being supported as indicated on the program's home page.

That's what you find at their site. Other support information should be looked over as well. 3DMark - test your graphics card with the gamer's benchmark If you had been running an older release intended for 7 as an example and first saw it working on 10 but no longer on the Redstone 1 update you would need to go for the latest to see if a fresh install or fresh install and removal for a second fresh install will clear this up. Often you have to get a fresh install on again in order to completely remove lingering elements.

  6. For stubborn apps one thing I have found over the years besides restoring a full system made before some program went on but likely losing other things in the process would be a manual edit of the registry itself. Once the select and I mean select entries for the one program only were identified and manually removed I could then simply nuke all the program files and folders off the drive!

This would be in cases where the uninstaller either didn't work or wasn't even present and it was unable to be removed by uninstall in the Programs & Features(previous Programs in Vista, XP days proceeding 7). This type of advice however is intended only for those who already know the risks of going into and making changes in the System Reg itself! At Your Own Risk note!

The most commonly advised advice however if the program had only been recently added on and not run for ages would be looking for a valid System Restore point in order to roll things back before the 3D Mark app was even put on the first time or previous time. That would be the automatic rolling back on the System Reg taking place by the Windows method to prevent mishaps.

Since you are replying back stating the latest is what is on then you have the stuck in registry problem where the System Restore option would seem to be what is the best move to be looking at. The last resort is the scary probe into the registry manually to ID and Nuke that one app's entries.

The problem remains to finding where all of them are and then finding all files and folders being a search and destroy and time consuming op if you are successful that is! Program installers often hide things in odd places where only their uninstaller if not the Control Panel method is effective in removing all traces. I would advise the use of a restore point if found if you are able to go back just before the latest went on. Hopefully you will find one or two in case one doesn't work to use.

  7. Thanks Night Hawk. I ended up going through the registry and deleting all entries referring to Future Mark / 3DMark. I then tried reinstalling 3DMark and it was successful.

It can be a royal pain at times to manually track things down for some apps as well as things like IE which has been successfully removed here in the past when IE went buggy in order to download and install a fresh copy of the same version. With the entries still present Windows will often be fooled into thinking the app is already on and running normally while the Control Panel won't be able to find anything to remove. Neither will an uninstaller for the app itself if provided.

This is why many of the better paid for programs have offered special removers over the years that clean the reg up automatically to avoid these types of hang ups. The good part for you there was first being able to go in and clean things up with the second seeing the performance app go on fresh again and work.
