Not much wrong with it but my last backup has been screwed up somehow, just wouldn't return everything right. Had to do direct clone and that worked. Another thing is too many updates and having to make rescue disk all over again. Now I made a backup with both, just in case.

Best way is to test it.

I'll do a clean install tomorrow (after the 24 hours has passed) and let you know if it will activate again or not. Just did a clean install. It activated fine using the same key.

I was saying Macrium used to be a piece of cake. Now that times have changed; UEFI etc, these programs have had to keep up so they are not quite as straight forward as they used to be.

I am still using Macrium because it has never failed me and all my OS images are on my external drives.

Regarding the rescue media, I used a flash drive for the first time to let Macrium create the WinPE for 10 and importantly to keep the updates current. I format the stick before updating as I thought MR would erase it for me like when you use the disc but it doesn't. I was told you do not have to change the rescue media with each minor update however, when a major change occurs, it is obviously advisable to update and check it out. The stick is not as bootable first try as the disc used to be and it takes a couple of tries sometimes.
I am one who noticed that the EULA stated a 30 day trial period with this give away for EaseUS.

I used to use Acronis but it became too complex and Macrium does the same job easily. I like the idea that I can email myself as a reminder - they all have that feature, I believe.
When I tic to verify after an image is created it takes about 25 minutes to do all. I have a 4 year old Dell XPS 8300 and hope to get anew machine soon from Santa. *Wink

Maranna, when you download Easus, you are downloading the trial software. When you put the activation number in, it becomes the full version and no longer a trial. It is no different than any other program. If you download Malwarebytes it is a free trial version if you use the real time updates. If you purchase the paid version they send you an activation number. When you put the activation number in and activate it, you no longer have the trial version, you have the paid, full version. Most software with free/trial versions is that way.

  9. EaseUS is total garbage and the restore function doesn't work.
Meaning, if you don't recover what you can after a 13 hour scan and save your position it won't let you restore that position.

I went through living hell trying to recover TWO 4 tb drives after Windows Disk Manager decided to turn them into raw when I changed the drive letter. Something I've done a million times with 8.1 and below.

R Studio recovered everything and gave me plenty of choices how I wanted it recovered.
    Complete directory structure and everything.
It recovered 99% of everything and the missing were probably large and fragmented.
The save your spot feature worked as well.

Hand to God this was the only software that worked and done what is advertised to do.

EaseUS contacted me and said the same.

FYI, MBAM was never considered a trial when I installed it.

I am happy with Macrium after looking around at the alternatives.

I guess I came full circle but thanks for the replies.
