4k monitor showing 1920 X 1080 due to windows laptop

I am running a windows 10 Hp Spectre from 2017. It has Intel HD Graphics 620. I connected the laptop to the monitor via the Hp type C to HDMI adaptor. The monitor is a 4k monitor. When I opened the advanced display settings and select the 4k monitor output, the highest resolution I can get under "List all modes" is 1920 X 1080. It says dekstop resolution is 1920 X 1080 and Active signal resolution is 3840 X 2160. I use screenresolutiontest.com to confirm that the monitor output is 1920 X 1080 when i am duplicating my display and 2560X1440 when I extend my display. How can i get my monitor to d

Windows Snip on 4k Monitor vs Laptop Screen

I have a 1080p laptop, but 100% use it with an external 4k monitor.

When I attempt to print screen (Snipping Tool) the capture size defaults to the 1920 x 1080 from the laptop and ignores the 4k screen. This means much is left off the clip, and the resolution is terrible.

In practice this means that as print screen is pressed the 4k screen is shrunk to a 1080 version on the larger screen (ie, appears in the top left quarter), but this shrinking makes it impossible to get a clip with enough accuracy and DPI to make it legible.

    Any suggestions?

  4. 4k monitor showing 1920 X 1080 due to windows laptop

    External monitor's resolution changed from 1920 x 1080 to 800 x 800. How can I get the resolution back to the 1920 x 1080?

I have 2 external monitors connected to my HP Envy Laptop and I use Windows 10. A few days ago the Hp 24 mh monitor's resolution changed from 1920 x 1080 to 800 x 800. I noticed an event "Kernel-PnP Event ID 410". In the Display settings the Size of Text and Display Resolution drop down menus for this monitor are grayed out. How can I get the resolution back to the 1920 x 1080? The monitor uses a Fresco Logic IDDCX Adapter. There wasn't a driver available on the HP website for Windows 10 and my Windows Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045. Please note that I am somewhat technically challenged and do not understand the intricacies of drivers and relationships to the things they are "driving." I've updated the Fresco driver, uninstalled and re-installed the driver, to no avail. Thanks in advance for any help.
