    7.1 Sound no longer working after Windows 10 update.


    My HTPC used to function perfectly until a Windows 10 update/version changed that. Each time a new version comes out I do a fresh install, so I can get WMC working again. I am now at version 20H2. When I do a fresh install, Windows installs 2 choices for audio 1 is Samsung High Definition Audio. 2 is Realtek HD audio. If I select Realtek I get no audio at all, although Windows states that this device is functioning. When I select Samsung I get only get Stereo, even though I am offered a choice of 7.1. When I select this option I get a GUI showing 7 speakers and when I perform a test, only the 2 front channels work. This did function fine in Version 1903. I am lost I have worked days searching forums, and changing settings, but nothing changes. I have a Samsung 4k TV connected via HDMI to a Yamaha 7.1 receiver and it's connected to my HTPC via an HDMI cable. I rally don't understand how Windows installs the Samsung HD Audio. Windows selects this choice as the default device. Help, I am lost.

    Sony Sound Forge 7 won't open since Windows 10 upgrade

    Tried to open my registered Sony Sound Forge 7 software program today and realized that since Windows 10 upgrade, like some other software programs affected, this one won't open.

    (1) Tried some of the suggestions in regedit but didn't see all of the Sony entries listed in the steps

    (2) Tried opening with "run as administrator" - didn't work.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you for trying to help , i did tried your suggestion but it did not work :/ , nothing seems to make it work on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. In the meantime i have bought a new SoundBlasterX AE-5 and it did installed flawlessly , no problems whatsoever. it is up to Creative ( drivers ) and Microsoft ( bug fix ) to fix this huge bugs with Audio.

    NdM, I think you may be on to something. Now that Windows 8 and 10 are out, Windows 7 update has suffered a lot.

    I forgot where I read this from, but a programmer accused Microsoft of intentionally making competitive software perform worse after updates.
