Windows 10: 7.1 Surround Sound gaming headset cannot be identified

Hi, I purchased a 7.1 surround sound gaming headset from mpow and I am unable to install the application to download the drivers for it. I have connected the headset but the application from mpow to install the drivers for the headset does not register that the headphones are connected when in fact they are. I can hear audio from the headphones, in the sound control panel the headphones are listed as generic

high definition audio device"


Is this a problem with any windows audio drivers i may have installed?

Windows 10 Not Recognizing 7.1 Surround Sound Headset

Hi lads,

I recently updated my computer with the September W10 update, and just of today have noticed that W10 is not officially recognizing my device as a 7.1 Surround Sound Headset. Prior to the update, W10 recognized this fine and I was able to apply the respective
Spatial Sound properties under the Sound options. Now it seems there is no 7.1 option whatsoever, and the option to enable Dolby Atmos is also vacant.

When looking under Controller Information in General, the computer identifies the Headset as (Generic USB Audio). I am positive that a 7.1 device is far from 'generic'.

I am using a Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 Headset and have tried a numerous amount of troubleshooting, including the following:

- Re-calibrating the Headset through the Razer Synapse application

- Uninstalling/reinstalling audio drivers & sound devices

- Updating audio drivers & sound devices

It is obvious that the latest update has somehow rendered my device invisible to W10, so my only other option at this point could be a system restore to before I did the update. However, I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this problem and-or if there
is a fix for it.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue
