Windows 10: 8 year old bug? Taskbar is sometimes showing a duplicate Notepad icon when opening text files

Notepad will sometimes appear as a duplicate icon on the taskbar when opening a textfile *.txt. Other times it activates the pinned Notepad icon on the taskbar which is normal behaviour. The pinned icon works correctly i.e. it shows the Pinned and Recent sections when I right click on it. Pinning a Notepad file to taskbar.

I was a Vista Ultimate user for a long time. My computer crashed. It has been three years and now I got my computer repaired with Windows 10. I loved my Vista because I am a researcher that is constantly dancing back-n-forth between docs, internet, notepads
and PDFs. My system was that I was able in Vista to have one particular Notepad file show up automatically in my Taskbar. I access this file constantly throughout the day. I hate apps.
How do I pin my specific Notepad file to the taskbar? Because everyday, I have to run through a whole bunch of steps to go to items I use everyday. In Vista, I skipped all that because they appeared automatically
in the taskbar. In the "Start program" Vista automatically opened all the stuff I used throughout the day. My computer was set up for work when I turned it on. How can I get back to the system that worked for me? I hate the Windows 10 app for notepad. I am
using the Windows 8 notepad that looks like my old Vista Notepad.

 

Recently Opened Items Bugs on Taskbar

Hey guys.

Even i turning off "Show recently opened in Jump Lists or the taskbar" options on Setting my recently opened files, pictures, videos still showing when i right click the icon on taskbar. Is there anyway to force close this options? Because seems like it's bugged right now.

Frequent USB folder/files don't show up in taskbar

Your screenshot shows Notepad as being open and a list of Recent files. This is mine with its list of Recent opened in Notepad:




One nice thing about the Taskbar is when a program is open its icon shows and can be right-clicked and Pinned to Taskbar. When the program is closed the icon should remain.

Another thing that can be done is to create additional Toolbars, the small double-arrows [on the right of Desktop] can be clicked and get a list of the items on the Desktop.
