Windows 10: 8+ Years of battling malware on 3 Different CPUs

Hello, I hope someone can help me crack this horrendous malware that has been wreaking havoc for most of my career, causing multiple prolonged cases of major depression & reconsideration of even continuing the life path I've been working on for the last decade+...I believe I've unmasked the external drive responsible for this, & will never be using it again..I thought Norton would save me this time around to recover some old files, but it's caused the same chain of events on my new CPUNew system admin controls, BIOS infected, multiples of .exe that shouldn't exist, the whole nine yard

There is always a battle with malware. With all the different types, ransomware included, all anyone can do is be as careful as possible. This most recent one, WannCry or WannaCrypt, was one of the worst. It infected large companies like FedEx and infected
devices in hospitals in the UK. I do believe that the battle will continue...and continue, most likely forever. Hackers continue to see what works and expand on that, always trying to make AV programs not catch it.
