Windows 10: 8bitdo SN30 Pro Bluetooth Controller Driver Error in Windows 11

8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus (Bluetooth Controller) Driver Error in Windows 11

Hey there,

My 8bitdo SN30 Pro Plus controller has slowly lost its functionality within Windows 11 over the past week. At the beginning of the week, it connected via Bluetooth perfectly and functioned without issue. Then, within the past few days (I want to say this all started Thursday), my controller was able to connect via Bluetooth, but was not recognized within any of my gaming programs. Then, today, my controller only connected successfully the first time I connected it per session. Any attempts to reconnect it after turning the Bluetooth off and back on were met with a Driver Error. I had to restart my laptop this morning every time I attempted to connect my controller again. Now, my controller connects via Bluetooth (sometimes), but does not work at all (Windows simply states that there is a driver error).

Can someone please help me with this issue? I've tried just about everything I can think of, including what many have suggested online. I've updated the drivers, I've "forgotten" my controller in Bluetooth, I've restarted my laptop, I've turned off my controller while the Bluetooth is still on so that it might work (it didn't), and I've even run the Troubleshooter in Device Manager more than once (to no effect). I've done several combinations of those steps too, so I'm at a complete loss for how to fix this issue.

There is no Windows drivers I can find on 8bitdo's website to update. My controller is updated with the latest firmware (released in late 2021), so I don't think that's an issue either. I've tried to rollback the Windows Driver for my controller, but there doesn't appear to be an earlier version of said driver that I could even use.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I'm having the same issue as many others I found on reddit.

A side note, when toggling Bluetooth off via the quick toggle button in the system tray (right below corner -> click on the network icon -> Bluetooth toggle button), does the BT toggle button "hang" as active and can not be interacted with for a while?

So I found the cause of Bluetooth taking too long to disable. This happens when 8bitdo controllers are paired to Windows, even if they're not connected. Deleting the 8bitdo controllres makes the issue disappear.
