Windows 10: 8Gb Ram yet BIOS only shows 4Gb of RAM

Okay so, Yesterday I cleaned my RAM sticks with a cloth 2x 4GB and placed them back in the slots. I then, went to BIOS and it shows that both of my slots are in use I only have 2 slots but when I checked the memory on BIOS, it only shows 4GB which should be 8Gb and as expected my computer is way slower than before. I tried reseating my RAM sticks but It still only shows 4GB, both RAM sticks works just fine I tried them on 1 slot and it worked but on the other one It doesn't and sometimes when I place both of them in, It doesn't boot. I have a WINDOWS 64x bit system both of my RAM sticks s

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

Ram shows only 3.20 usable, Bios correctly shows 8GB. Help!

Today I installed 4GB RAM (I had 4GB already) to my laptop for some extra performance. However Windows only shows 3.20 GB usable instead of 8.0GB. I checked in BIOS is shows 8GB.

I used cpu-z, it correctly detected RAM on both slot, but it shows 800Mhz instead of 1600Mhz.

I am using Windows 10 64bit on Lenovo G505s. Can anybody advise me to correct this problem?!

RAM shows 4GB hardware reserved insted of 8GB

Still no reply. Having the same issue. 8gb installed windows hardware reserved 4gb so I only have 4gb that i can use. installed 16gb or ram. windows has now hardware reserved 8gb of ram. Regardless of slots used. 3 different types of memory in as many
configurations as possible. all returning the same result. What the **** is going on. this has randomly happened on a healthy working install of windows 10. Have since done a fresh install with the same thing still happening....
