Windows 10: 97% - 99% of RAM is used, without anything open that uses enough RAM

Hello community,I've recently encountered a weird thing happening where my PC uses between 97 and 99% of my RAM without doing anything. This brings heavy lags with it regularly. I have 32 GB of RAM and when I look it up in the Task Manager there is absolutely no task that takes up that much RAM see second screenshot. Is there any way to fix this? Somethimes this isn't the case but the most time it is. Thanks in advance!

Internet Explorer uses a lot of RAM

This issue may arise due to:

• Opening multiple tabs at a time.
• Using add-on.
• Virus.
• Multiple internet explorer opens in Task manager.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and also check whether multiple Internet explorer process are running at the same time.

• Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
• Open Task manager.
• Click on Detail Tab.
• You will see MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe file.
• Right Click and End Task.
• Restart the computer.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to perform virus scan by using Windows Defender Offline Beta from the below link and check if it helps.

What is using my RAM ?

As I wrote, the purpose of running the Crucial scan was to make sure the RAM is precisely spec'd, since so many people think they can just move RAM around between PC's when it must be an exact match in order to work properly. That and the RAM test should eliminate the RAM as the problem.

It can also show you good quality discount RAM to make it easier to upgrade if you want to try that. Often upgrading to 6-8gb RAM can make a big difference. Watch the Task manager > Performance tab while you do various tasks. If the RAM frequently runs higher than the Processor then you can use a RAM upgrade that won't outrun your processor.

Otherwise I gave all known fixes for issue of high RAM usage in Windows 10. The results I suggested to report back were from those steps, so I know what else to suggest. This is how troubleshooting works best in forums, and I have more experience helping in forums than almost anyone on the web.
