  1. A bit confused here...

Hello everybody. I'll try to keep this one as short as possible, if you need any more details, just reply obviously.

So, I installed on my Acer Nitro AN515-31 the Windows 10 Enterprise I like installing and uninstalling the OS, testing different stuff, yes, this is a test laptop. All went fine, no problems, it's working beautiful. But.....

As always, there is a BUT.

...but when I open the Task Manager I see all the processes started. Nothing new so far. But there are some processes opened which I opened and closed a while back, but some how they reappear: Settings process, YourPhone 2 process I did not ever since I installed this OS on this machine never ever connected my phone to it, Calculator which I use, from time to time, but finish my work with it in about 1-2 minutes, so I close it from the X, like you would do with any other window or app, Microsoft Edge yeah, read about this one, it's intrusive, but managed to edit the registry and it's not starting every 5 minutes now, only once a day or so, Runtime Broker 5 to 10 different processes, that if you end them using the End Task option after you right click them, does not make any difference in the stabillity of the machine, but they just start popping up again in Task Manager after 5-20 minutes the more time you give it, the more Runtime Broker processes start, Office HOLD UP, this is what I want to know more about!, and the other processes that make this machine work.

Now... If I DID NOT INSTALL OFFICE 365 on my laptop, on this machine specifically, which is not connected in any way with any others , why is the Office process appearing in the Task Manager?

That's the first question that comes into mind. If you have not installed an app or a program on your computer for which you are supposed to have a license to use, how come it is running on my machine?

Also, what about the Runtime Broker processes? What's the meaning of them? I'm just literally fighting with them every 10 minutess, clearing my Task Manager.

But the most triggering question : why do I have OFFICE 365 process inTask manager if I DID NOT INSTALL OFFICE 365 ?

I'veput this question on Security and Privacy as it is blatantly breaching my privacy by starting processes of apps/programs that I have not installed on this machine, and/or by starting processes of apps/programs I do not use or have used, but closed. My logic is that if you close an app/program, it means you have finished working with it, this is why you close it. Prove me wrong!

Thank you for taking the time to read this post and let's see where this goes.

    :)

  2. Color bit depth is at 6-bit on Display properties of Windows 10 pro

Try the below suggested steps and check if the suggested options are available to change the Color bit Depth value

    1. Right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
    2. Expand the Display, and then highlight the Change resolution.
    3. On the right side, check if there is 8 bpc listed under
      Output color depth.
    4. You may select 8 bpc and restart the device to witness the changes.

  3. Bit the bullet, and ordered my laptop!!

In the meantime, I'm thinking about a list of "indispensible software" to install... while trying to avoid bloat-ware.

Here's my list. Any suggestions welcome. (OS will be Vista Home Premium x64 so they must be 64bit compatible)

    - Avast Antivirus
    - Spyware Doctor

(any better suggestions for the above two?)

    - CPU-Z
    - GPU-Z
    - SIW
    - 3DMark 06 (vantage... I think the last time I checked it wasn't free or I'm confusing it with something else?)
    - SuperPi
    - CoreTemp
    - ATITool (mainly for GPU temperature monitoring)
    - Piriform Defraggler

    - Firefox
    - Fraps

Am I missing out something, and where do you suggest I could improve?

  4. A bit confused here...

    New FF - passwords

    Hi:

If that setting is already enabled, then I suggest as the next troubleshooting step might be Mozilla Safe Mode (not to be confused with Windows Safe Mode)):

Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode | Firefox Help

    • Please report back and let us know the outcome, as it will dictate the next steps.
    • Also: please tell us what AV/AM/firewall programs are you running on this system?

    Thanks,
    MM
