Windows 10: A black screen behind the start menu.

As of 4-7-20. every time I click on the start icon I lose my desktop picture and get a black screen behind the start menu? When I click back out again my desktop photo returns. Any suggestions?

If you can reach the sign-in screen, we recommend that you start your PC in safe mode from the sign-in screen.
Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. It can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC. Here are the steps:

• When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down while you select the Power
  icon > Restart.
• After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select
  Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
• After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options. Select 5 or
  F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

Windows GUI locks up WIN 10 EDU. Also having issues with accessing Start Menu and black screen issues.

This issue might occur if some system files is corrupt.



I suggest you to follow the steps below to run System Maintenance troubleshooter, also refer to the Microsoft Help Articles about Start Menu and Black screen issues. Check if it helps.



Step 1: I recommend you to perform the system maintenance troubleshooter. It will resolve the common system problems.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes and click on
Troubleshooting.

3. Then click on System and Security.

4. Click on System Maintenance.

5. Click on Next and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter

Step 2: I suggest you to refer to the suggestion provided in the Microsoft Help Article about Start Menu issues.

Endless black screen without anything but it is on
