  1. A bug with setting up DNS Server Adresses for Ethernet Adapters

If you use the new modern settings interface to set up your DNS server addresses for your Ethernet adapters, then you have only two options.A preferred and an alternative address. If you instead use the old System Controls Settings menu, you have two options: go to your Ethernet adapter Settings and then to your DNS Settings either for IPv4 or IPv6. But when clicking on the advanced settings and going to the DNS Tab it is possible to add more than two addresses for an Adapter. But I can't set here if they should be over HTTPS so encrypted or not. So I added them and then switched to the new Wi

Windows 10 - default DNS server on VPN adapter not used primarily when on Ethernet

Since the upgrade to Windows 10 on a couple of PC's in our company, we have noticed a difference in DNS lookup behaviour compared to Windows 8.1.

Previously, when we connected to a PPTP VPN connection configured in Windows, when we had a VPN connection established, the default DNS server that was used for resolving was the one configured on the VPN adapter.

With Windows 10, we now see that it keeps using the one configured on the Ethernet adapter as primary DNS server.

However, when connected via WiFi, it uses the default DNS server of the VPN adapter. We determined this by running NSLookup from a command prompt. The results are different when connected using ethernet or WiFi.

IP configuration not valid - interference from ethernet adapter?

Solution 1: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1or Windows 10

    Step 1:

Go to Device Manager → Network adapters.
    Step 2:

    Expand it (Network adapters).

    Step 3:

    Select your network adapter

    Step 4:

Right click on your wireless network adapter or Ethernet adapter and then tap “Update Driver Software”.
(in this case your network adopter is Ethernet adopter so tap your Ethernet adapter)
    Step 5:

Now on a new window you will need to click on “Browse my computer for driver software”.

    Step 6:

Then select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.

    Step 7:

Now choose the “Manufacturer’s drivers” from the list of two and then click next.

    Step 8:

After the completion of the process just restart your PC and check if the problem is solved or not. If not, goto solution 2.

Solution 2: No Internet Access In Windows 8.1,windows10

    Step 1:

    Open command prompt.
    Step 2:

Just go on hitting the enter after typing the each command.
netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled
    Step 3:

Now to check if the settings are disabled type:
    netsh int tcp show global
    then hit enter.
    Step 4:

Now the thing left is just rebooting your system and just check if the problem is solved or not and just give feedback.*chuckle*Thumbs

    DNS SERVER NOT RESONDING

    Hi Rita French,

This issue often occurs when the DNS settings are incorrect. I suggest you to perform the following methods to troubleshoot the issue.

    Method 1:

I would recommend you to change the Preferred DNS server and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows + R keys to open Run window, type
      ncpa.cpl and press Enter.
    • Right-click on the connection that you use for the local connection, and then click
      Properties.
    • Click to select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click
      Properties.
    • In the Internet Protocol window, let's change the Preferred DNS server to
      208.67.222.222
    • Click OK twice to complete the modification.

Note: If the issue persists, please repeat the steps and change the "Preferred DNS server" to 208.67.220.220.

    Method 2:

If that does not help, try to flush the DNS. Follow these steps below.

    • From Start screen, type Command Prompt.
    • Right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator.
    • Type: ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

Note: The ipconfig /flushdns command provides you with a means to flush and reset the contents of the DNS client resolver cache. During DNS troubleshooting, if necessary, you can use this procedure to discard negative cache entries from the cache, as well
as, any other dynamically added entries.

Hope any of these methods help!

    Kind regards,

    Leon
