Windows 10: A bunch of my desktop apps are crashing on start up or failing to stay up.

Discord, some game launchers like Final Fantasy XIV and Riot Games, Synapse from Razer, and even NVIDIA GeForce Experience on installing drivers are having the stated issues. Either on trying to start them up and them just crashing and hanging on the background visible through Task Manager or crashing later when using them for the aforementioned launchers, it is usually after an attempt to login. For the NVIDIA issue, I get through the downloading process of a game driver or studio driver and after hitting express installation, it will run for a bit and then say that there was an error

Desktop is default on start-up and app closing

Please be informed that it is as per the Windows 10 Operating system
design.

If you wish to access the Start screen similar to Windows 8.1, follow the below steps.

• 
  Press Windows + I keys on the keyboard to open the settings menu.
  
• 
  Click on Personalization.
  
• 
  Select Start from the left navigation pane.
  
• 
  Turn on the Use start full screen.
  

After performing above steps, if you click on the Windows button at the top left corner on the desktop screen, you may access the Start screen similar to Windows 8/8.1 Operating system.

If you have any suggestions about Windows 10, I suggest you to post your valuable feedback about Windows 10 in feedback app. So, that it will be helpful for the developers to integrate the changes suggested by you.

Open start menu, type Feedback app in search bar and click on feedback app to open it. Post your suggestions in feedback app.

Desktop Icons Won't Stay Put

Hi Laurie,

As per the issue description I understand that you are facing issues with desktop icons.

I suggest you try the following step in order to arrange the icons.

• Right click on the desktop.
• Click on view
• Check the option auto arrange icons.

Before we proceed, I need more information to help you better:

• Do the auto arrange icons are set for the account?
• Does the desktop scaling is increased on display settings?

I like to inform you that, the new improved feature of start menu style being changed on Windows 10.

I suggest you to right click on an empty space on the desktop, then select display settings.

In the display settings, I suggest you to check, if the change the size of text apps is increased to 125% or is at 100%.
