A CRITICAL Situation and Need Answer Quickly

I have a critical situation within my immediate family and cannot, at this time or probably much later, perform all the things I still need to do to prep my notebook for Windows 10 installation. I need the following questions answered relating to Windows 10 installation.

I received 2 updates the other day; KB3055343 (re stop error codes) and "Update to Windows 10", which I believe has to do with installing "Windows Insider Preview".

My questions are, 1. will these 2 updates remain in my control panel indefinitely, 2. do I really need to download the Windows Insider Preview, 3. will windows automatically install these at some point in time if I don't install myself?

I can't have windows install automatically because my computer is not ready yet, with several problems to fix.

I just can't do anything for a long time. My oldest bother is in "critical condition" in the hospital and he on my mind constantly. A quick response to my questions would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    :)

[SOLVED] (Critical Situation) Windows 10 and build 1709

We are grateful for providing additional information about the issue. Since you pointed out that the trouble in rebooting is random, it would be difficult if the problem is caused by the motherboard or by Windows 10. Since you are going to do a test from
the manufacturer's website, kindly update us with the outcome.

We await for an update from you.

[SOLVED] (Critical Situation) Windows 10 and build 1709

Thanks for the suggestion. I disconnect the power cord from the hard disk. It cannot be booted at all (of course with no hard disk but no BIOS display neither). However this also happened before. Random events happened: sometimes it was OK to get into
BIOS display. Once it was able to get into normal operation, seeing all my files, etc, no interruption all and did not die and I can run commands. Initially I thought it was a power problem, but the power LED diagnostics showed amber LED state with 2 amber
blinks, short pause, 1 amber blink followed by long pause then repeats which indicates system board failure but everything ran smoothly. The problem is rebooting (RESTARTING) the computer keeps on 'rebooting' itself repeatedly automatically (it sometimes
boot up, sometimes can get into BIOS by pressing F12, sometimes other events happened like getting into advanced startup option, sometimes getting into the login screen...). I thought it was a restart loop so I ran "reset windows update agent" (since the
computer was running smoothly) but did not fix the restart problem. I even repaired the startup files by running bootrec commands which ran successfully but which did not fix the boot up problem.

Now the power LED just becomes white on and off again and again when the power is plugged into the electrical socket (I do not need to push the power button at all). I open the cover to see what is going on, it seems that the heat sink assembly's fan runs
on and off now. No response by hitting F12 to get into BIOS set up (this also happened before). I did not connect the hard disk to do further testing, it may just occasionally get into 'normal' operation if I am lucky just like before (why so random?).
So many random events happened (no fixed pattern), just don't know how to single out the problem. The white power LED keeps on and off again and again and nothing happens, what may be the most likely problem before removing components one at a time to isolate
the problem? Currently it cannot even get into BIOS setup (noted that problem getting into BIOS happened before but who knows when it will successfully boot sometimes.) Is it possibly the Heat Sink Assembly problem which is DYING??? so sometimes it runs,
sometimes it stops running?? But when I WAS able to get into BIOS setup, running diagnosis showed no problem with the CPU fan. Recently I updated the BIOS firmware (ran successfully without problem) together with the 1709 update. Since the random events occurred,
I downgrade the firmware to the previous version (to be safe just in case) and it was installed successfully (I initially thought the most updated version may be the problem but then I was able to boot without problem and there should be a lot of inquiry on
the web if it did not work). Only when 1709 build was installed then the random events happened and the white power LED goes on and off repeatedly!!!

Thank you, Gary, for your quick reply. As I understand it, I'm okay....Microsoft won't automatically download. Thank you very much for your statement concerning my brother.

One more question, I have a whole year from 7/29/15 to install Windows 10 (was reserved) on my pc without a fee, correct?
