Windows 10: “A device which does not exist was specified” on entire drive at random times

After no solution from the official tehnical team, I came here. I have 2 windows installs, the old one which got corrupted, and this one. I encounter this error on a personal files partition and all the permission fixing modifying works only temporarly until it breaks again. I usually have access to my files a short time after startup. After moving my files and reformatting the drive using linux and hopefully fixing it there was literally no other way to move my files I now encounter this problem on my literal C drive on some folders “Access is denied”. A device which does not exist was specified

I ran into this error - A device which does not exist was specified - while trying to access an SSD from Windows console (running a directory listing). I believe the sequence of events leading up to it was the SSD wasunplugged and replugged in after which I reran the listing from a console window already open on the drive.

The solution seemed to be to navigate to a different drive and back again (in console) and then the listing ran fine without throwing the error.

Problem solved (for me at least). But I wanted to ask this question so that others could discover a possible solution. I found only one other reference to this error (*) and the thread had been closed.

* correction: there are many references to this error - I only found a single result because I mistyped a plural: A devices which does not exist was specified

 

AMD Chipset Install Error: 1316, The Specified Account Already Exists

In Device manager, most of those from that list are signed as Microsoft drivers, probably for compatibility purposes, just like disk drive drivers.
These are only ones from that list that I can find that is signed as AMD.

 

A Device Specified Does Not Exist Message

Hi all,

I have plugged in a Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200 RPM hard drive

When I go into disk manager, it says: "Disk 1 Not Initialized"

When I go to initialize it, it says " A Device Specified Does Not Exist "

How do I fix this?
