Windows 10: A file that puts the computer to sleep when clicked?

I am trying to make a desktop icon which when clicked puts the computer to sleep. I tried searching a lot but didn't find anything.Maybe a batch file would work by changing the icon of a shortcut. But I can't find a command that puts windows 10 to sleep.The code I found hibernates it.@echo off echo %time% timeout /T 1 && rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0 echo %time% I need something like this on the desktop A way to pin this to the taskbar would also be helpful!

Difficulty putting computer to sleep

Gosh, Dell, the tutorial is certainly comprehensive. Thanks.

In trying the tutorial suggestions I get the same result, coming out of sleep, but also a dialog box which says "Signal not rec'd. Check video cable" My video cable is secure so I don't know how to respond further. Guess I'll just muddle along, letting the (unused) computer time out, at least killing the monitor.

Computer wakes from sleep immediately after putting to sleep

There could be several reasons for the computer not going to sleep mode. To determine which device is causing this, we can run a simple command and check the reason why the computer woke up from sleep mode. To do this refer the steps mentioned below:

1. Type command prompt in the
   search bar on the Taskbar.
   
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and select
   Run as administrator.
   
3. Now, paste the following command and hit Enter:
   powercfg lastwake.
   
4. Share the results of the command.
   

The above command should let us know the device that is preventing the computer going into sleep mode.

iTunes stops playing when the computer go to sleep

Hi Ross,

Sleep mode is designed to stop all actions on a computer as it puts the device to a low-power state. Since you want to continue using a program even while your computer is locked, we suggest turning off Sleep mode by following these steps:

• Click Start.
• Go to Settings.
• Click System.
• Choose Power & Sleep from the left pane.
• Under Sleep, choose Never.
