Windows 10: A fix for ESENT error 1032, event ID 413/486

I keep getting 2 errors in event viewer. These errors go by what title says. ERROR INFO:ERROR ID: 413; svchost 5232,R,98 SRUJet: Unable to create a new logfile because the database cannot write to the log drive. The drive may be read-only, out of disk space, misconfigured, or corrupted. Error -1032.ERROR ID: 486;svchost 5232,R,98 SRUJet: An attempt to move the file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\SRU\SRU

Error ESENT Event ID 413 Logging/Recovery

THIS ONE WORKS FOR ME....

Like everybody here I have these error ESENT event ID: 413, but there is accompanying error to this.

Which is event ID: 486 in that edbtmp.log attempts to "write" edb.log in c:\windows\sysstem32 which
is subsequently failed (system error 5) "Access Denied". Basically it says that edbtmp.log don't have

permission to write edb.log in system32.

So I copied edb.log in c:\users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\SettingSync\metastore and

paste it in Windows\System32. You will be greeted with the "Destination Folder Access Denied" prompt,

just press Continue Button to proceed. Subsequent reboot and both ESENT 413 & 486 gone....for now.

I'll post if there's a recurrence.

Good step, make sure your user account (Microsoft account) and administrator have full control on the file (edb.log).

Next step, locate to C:\Windows\System32\sru right click the sru folder, click properties, click security tab, click advanced and click continue, the permission should be Administrators (full control), System (full control) and DPS (full control).



If you do not have permission DPS full control, there should be another ESENT error that will appear every 10 second at event viewer.

To add DPS permission, click Add button, click select principal, type NT SERVICE\DPS at the object names box, click check names and click OK and give Full control permission and click OK.

that's not really a solution.

right before esent event id 413 occurs I see this error:

SettingSyncHost (3412) An attempt to create the file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\edbtmp.log" failed with system error 5 (0x00000005): "Access is denied. ". The create file operation will fail with error -1032 (0xfffffbf8).

as the error says, the file is not getting created because it is being blocked by *something*.

I did create a blank file called edbtmp.log in \system32\ . will see if that fixes it
