A hidden file of unknown origin

I found a hidden file called ".reduce.exe_History" in my $home directory. Was this file created by Window 10 or by the program reduce.exe? Reduce documentation says nothing about such a file.

  2. Original System Hidden Files

How can I hide $RECYCLE.BIN, $SysReset, Boot, Documents and Settings, Program Data, Recovery, System Volume Information, System.sav, and other unhidden system folders?? I know that in original these folders should be hidden by the system but by a program
called SpyHunter4 it made them unhide so what should I do to get it back to the original place or to hide them again?

Note that I tried this solution and it did not succeed:

    Follow the steps below:

    1. Press Windows + X key on the keyboard

    2. Click on file explorer

    3. Click on view

    4. Options click change folder and search folders

    5. Click on view under Folder Options

    6. Locate Hidden files and folders.

    7. Select radio tab for Don’t show hidden files, folders or drives

    8. Click on Apply and Ok

and note that the color of the folders
aren't dull or pale ( aren't transparent ) like any hidden folders.

  3. All hidden files turned Un-hidden

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community and being part of Windows 10.

I suggest you to re-add them to the hidden items list and check.

    Steps:

    • Right click on the folders to hide, select Properties.
    • Go to General tab, under Attributes check mark the option
      Hidden.
    • Click on Apply and on Ok.

I suggest you not to use any third party anti-virus software. Try to use Windows Defender.

    Refer: Using Windows Defender

Hope it helps. Feel free to contact us for further assistance on Windows Operating System, we will be happy to help you.

    Recovering Hidden Files

Well, you have already said that you had tried the cmd option but you unable to unhide hidden files in USB.
So, I recommend you to recover hidden files from USB drive with Windows File Option. For this, you
    have follow these steps:

    • First of all, you have to press Windows + E to bring up the Windows Explorer.
    • Next, in Folder Options or File Explorer Options click the
      View tab
    • After this, in Hidden files & folders, you need to click the Show hidden files/folders & drives
      option.
    • Lastly, click the Apply, then hit OK
      button.
After finishing all these steps, you can see the hidden files of the USB drive.
