    “A media driver is missing”

Hello, I have tried to install windows 10/11 on my PC.I have: bought a new hard driveSet the disk as primaryCleaned the hard driveRemoved the usb stickChanged the usb portsTried to update BIOS which there was noneI can’t change to AHCI since there is no option for itAnd have tried different USB sticks.I am at a total loss since I have spent the last week researching and looking into the same articles with no solution as to just the aforementioned steps above. If any one can throw their 2 cents in, that would be greatly appreciated!

  3. Windows 10 Media Instalation is missing "Media Drivers"

    System info at the bottom.

After changing out hard drives and trying to reinstall Windows 10, I now encounter an error.

A media driver your computer needs is missing. This could be a DVD, USB, or Hard disk driver. If you have a CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver on it, please insert it now. Note: If the installation media for Windows is in the DVD drive or on a USB drive, you may safely remove it for this step.

Whenever I insert a drive with any driver on it, it fails to detect the drive.

So far, I have tried every solution found on the forums.

    1. Remove the drive and reinsert it
      1. No result
    2. Remove the drive and reinsert into a different USB port
      1. No result, may sometimes end in a crash where the installer tries to access the media from the old USB port not the new one.
    3. Use a USB 3.0 port
      1. All my USB Ports are USB 3
    4. Use Legacy and/or Secure a/o UEFI a/o turn every other setting in my BIOS on or off
      1. Varying effects.
        1. Legacy caused the device to black screen and created a partial boot-loop
        2. Secure had no effect on the error message
        3. UEFI caused the USB to boot, you could start the installer, but it would crash fairly soon.
        4. No secure boot, had no effect on the error message
    5. Use a different USB drive
      1. I have tried six different USB drives, all USB 3.0, all from different vendors
    6. Use MBR or use GPT
      1. Both have no effect
    7. Format the drive as FAT, or exFAT, or FAT32, or NTFS
      1. All have no effect

Whenever I load a Linux ISO onto the drive, it boots, installs, and reboots from the drive perfectly fine.

When I tried to contact actual customer support not only was I referred here. But, I am also now locked out of contacting support from my phone number. It is impossible to be on the phone for more than 16 seconds before the automated bot hangs up.

    Hp Envy Driver missing

    Hi Mohsin,

    • Are you referring the missing driver as the High Definition Audio device
with a yellow mark in the screenshot?

This issue could have happened due to corrupted driver files. Let's try reinstalling the driver and check if the driver can be recovered. Follow the below steps to re-install the driver.

    • As you are already on the device manager, right-click on High Definition Audio device, and select
      Uninstall.
    • Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

    If the issue still persist, I suggest you to run the hardware troubleshooter and check if the issue is resolved. Follow the below steps to run the Hardware troubleshooter;

    • Type troubleshooting in the search tool.
    • Click on Troubleshooting tab.
    • Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
    • Select the Hardware and
      Device options from the list.
    • Click Next to run the Hardware
      and Device Troubleshooter.

Let us know if you need further assistance, we will be glad to help you.
