  1. A new build PC and possible conflict of OS's, please help.

I've built a new system, with an OS win 11 pro pre-installed on a 512gb m.2 SSD. I want to use a lot of information too much to transfer etc from my original HDD, which has the original operating system, Windows 10 installed. Will the new SSD OS override the old one, on the HDD? Or will there be a conflict? Is there preparation needed before I can simply use files on the old HDD, and running the new OS on the SSD?

    :)

  2. is it possible to hand build a motherboard?

Might I suggest you simply build a computer, making notes and taking pictures step by step. Most people (probably including your teacher) have no idea even where to start building a computer. You'll do fine, and if you get stuck we're here to help ya out! *Toast :toast:

    Possible system Build

I know this is probably shameless advertising, but here:

    www.freewebs.com/thepcguide

is a sort of crappy site i put together for college students and the like, its a step by step guide showing you exactly how to build a pc

it might be hard to use but i tried to make it as simple as possible.

If that site doesn't help, then yeah, try finding someone near you who knows how to build a pc to do it for you.

A new build PC and possible conflict of OS's, please help.

Help with OS Transfer on a new build

Need some help figuring out what I need to do for a fresh build tomorrow. I will be moving off of my old CPU and mobo to a new X99 system. Right now I have my OS on a Sata SSD and want to transfer it onto a new NVME drive.

    Some issues:
    • I have a windows 10 upgrade from a RETAIL windows 7 license so I should have migration rights correct?
    • I have 3 other non-OS drives so after I do the install with my old/ current Microsoft account will my fresh install of windows recognise those drives?
If you guys could shed some light on how to do this or advice please lend a hand. thanks!
