Windows 10: A new Chrome window trying to log in to my microsoft account pops up at random times

While I'm playing games, or doing something else that has nothing to do with Microsoft, a new window of google chrome my default browser opens up with a log-in to mi Microsoft account saying that I'm trying to access sensitive information, which I'm not. Have I been hacked? if not, how do I stop this pop-up.

Trying to switch to Microsoft account from local, unable to...

I tried that, more than once. I go thru the complete procedure of getting a new Microsoft account password, then when I reach the final step to key in the Windows password, I try my NEW Microsoft account password, and I get the same message-invalid password. No luck.

Any other suggestions.

Just simply log in with your Microsoft Account.

Just go back to using a local account:

Microsoft Account Page Pops Up When Logging In to PC

Someone recently brought me a laptop. I believe they hadn't really used it in about 6 months. They turn their laptop on. They click on their name to log in, but instead of just letting them put in the password, a Microsoft Account page pops. It's basically the same white box you get when you're online, and you're about to sign in to your Hotmail, Office, or Microsoft account. She logs in, then it lets her onto the computer. I can only assume this happened after an update. She brought it to me to see for myself, and after she logged in, it took her to like first-time setup settings. It was trying to get her to enable a pin and Windows Hello. I logged in with my Microsoft to see if it was just that account, but after I logged out and attempted to log back in, it also gave me the Microsoft Account page when I attempted to log back in.

She took the laptop back, but my suggestion was to have her run all her Windows updates and see if that fixed the problem. My next troubleshooting step was going to be disabling last logged-in user.
