  1. A new Motherboard hardware problem

Hello, I have a problem. I can't use my Windows 10 Pro key, which I had used once before, on my new motherboard. I upgraded from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 before changing my motherboard, and now I have a new motherboard. I still have the key, but when I enter it, it says it couldn't be activated. Is this because I am on Windows 11, because my old motherboard is still linked to my account, or because my key has become unusable? I don't have the money to buy a new Windows, so I want to use my existing Windows again. Is there a solution to this?

    :)

how do I know if there is a hardware problem?

If you have done all the troubleshooting steps found on the link I would suggest getting your laptop fixed by a certified Dell hardware Technician, you may be having a hardware problem. It is possible that the motherboard is dead if you cannot see any
light indicator anywhere when you power on the laptop.

  3. Windows 10 and upgrading motherboard

    Hi,

Thank you for bringing up your query on Microsoft Community.

The only hardware changes that can negatively impact activation status once you upgrade to free version are the changes to the:

    • CPU
    • TPM
    • Motherboard replacement
The following changes are examples of hardware changes that will NOT impact the activation status:

    • HDD/SSD
    • Video card
    • Adding extra memory
Let us follow the steps suggested by Andre Da Costa (replied

  4. A new Motherboard hardware problem

Choice of memory and motherboard... a bit stuck...

No one who got some suggestions on this one, huh?

I've found out that the Asus M3A78-T needs to be flashed, so then that motherboard is excluded from my list. Which motherboard and memory should I then go for? Any suggestions?
