  1. A new type of pinned item on the Windows 11 Start Menu?

Hi,on a new Dell laptop with Windows 11 preinstalled, there are icons for services such as Spotify, Instagram, or Amazon Prime Video pinned to my Start Menu. Now, advertising and bloatware are pretty standard, but these are not normal shortcuts. I cannot find them in the usual locations:C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start MenuC:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start MenuIn fact, they do not even seem to be files. Right clicking only offers 'Move to top', 'Unpin from Start', and 'Uninstall' - but no option to navigate to the file 'Open file location' as on the other entries

    :)

Item pinned to Start Menu is not visible

I pinned Windows Update to my Start Menu. After some time, I noticed it was gone and tried to re-pin it. But when I right-clicked on the setting, all that showed up was "Unpin from Start." Selecting that option causes the dialog window to crash/close. As things stand, I cannot pin that setting to the Start Menu, it does not appear on the Start Menu and "Unpin from Start Menu" causes the settings dialog to close. But Windows apparently thinks it is pinned to the Start Menu.

The Start Menu works perfectly but for this one issue. I am able to pin/unpin other apps and settings with no problem. So it appears the issue is limited to this one item. I have run System File Checker three times and no issues have been detected.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A new type of pinned item on the Windows 11 Start Menu?

Cannot pin items to start menu on windows 10

    Hello Mayank-Longiany,

    Thanks for your answer.

Yes, I've restarted explorer. I've restarted the computer many times. I've done checks to see if windows files are ok.

I've also tried to pin items several ways:

    - 'pin to start' in explorer context menu

    - dragging from 'most used' list,

    - make shortcut in %appdata%\...\Start Menu\Programs

    - remove shortcuts and 'pin to start'

The action 'pin to start' puts a shortcut in %appdata%\...\Start Menu\Programs, but doesn't put the program in the

start menu itself. If you type the name of the shortcut in the Start Menu it also is not found.

    Regards,
