  2. Sound issues on Windows 10 as it plays incorrect sound settings.

When i plug anything into my laptop through the auxiliary port (headphones, sound system), it sounds like it's amplifying the laptop speaker output. Lots of treble and very little bass, much like the laptop speaker.

    I have updated sound drivers.

Original title: Laptop aux sound not playing correctly

  3. What power settings do I need to set to have Windows playback media with closed laptop lid and enter power saving mode when timeout is reached?

I want to listen to a radio station at night and have my laptop enter power saving mode when the timeout is reached while the laptop lid is closed.

But I don't seem to be able to set power settings appropriately.

Microsoft Edge stops playback immediately when closing the laptop lid. In contrast to this, Winamp, or Internet Explorer 11 or any other player, seem keeping Windows 10 from entering power save mode, so my laptop runs, playing back, all night long.

Which power settings do I need to set to have both (and other) players play back while having Windows 10 enter power save mode when its time has come?

Er.. why would speakers be consuming significant power with no sound? Which speakers.. connected how?
    Are they getting hot?

And whether you have control of power in externally powered speakers depends on whether a protocol exists for such a command.
Which implies you have a driver for the speakers that supports such a feature...

If you know that, fine.. otherwise you'd need to check with the speaker manufacturer.

  5. The speakers are not simple speakers. Are 40watt RMS and consume lot of power and i have em open many hours per day and accept skype calls anytime. I have skype auto-logged every pc power on. I didn't had problem with the 16 watt speakers i had so far and i wanted to change it with something more realistic. They are not getting hot, but produce good sound for better realistic song listening. And they do. Are Genius Stereo speakers. Model SP-HF1250B. I know in their series, stronger surround speakers with 4 and more speakers have power saving capability when not in use but the 40watt ones they don't so i wanted to check if i can do it via software. Manufacturer says it comsumes a lot of power even when not playing. Are connected to the pc speaker sound output.

40 watt (audio power) speakers do not draw "40 watts" of power continuously. At idle (no sound, or not amplifying sound) it is very little. Additionally, the 40 watts of audio power is only when the volume control is turned up to maximum and there is sound playing.
No different than a guitar amplifier (I'm an ex-guitar amp tech). A guitar amp that is rated for 100 watts audio does not draw 100 watts of mains power when idle.

If you want the speakers to not use power, just power them off when not in use with the mains power switch. However, if it has an external power transformer it will still draw a very small amount of power and in that case disconnecting it from the mains is the only way to completely power it off.

  7. How can software turn the power off ?
there only connected to the pc via the speaker out, being 40 watt they have their own separate power supply
you want to save power you will have to turn them off at the switch or wall socket.

Bluetooth/wireless speakers maybe? That's the only scenario in which that could be feasible..

(I'm ignoring the basic issue that it simply shouldn't be necessary, unless thinking of the small power drain of an idle external powered wireless speaker)
