    A question on the DISM.log


    In the DISM log file, I would like to know what "FIOReadFileIntoBuffer:1452 The file name, directory, or volume Label syntax is incorrect." means.Is there a way to put the correct syntax in the FIO buffer file?

    DISM Logging disabled

    I can locate the log, as you suggested, however the log file is empty (size 0 bytes).

    I have run the suggested command above; no change.
    The full error is: "Logging is disabled: unable to obtain access to the log file c:\windows\logs\dism\dism.log.

    dism log

    Try these in order:

    • dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
    • dism /online /cleanup-image /ScanHealth
    • dism /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

    How to get damn DISM to work?

    Thx guys, I'll compress this data into a blog post. For all the so called guides I've read, not a single one mentioned it has to be WIM file (some listed even ESD which clearly doesn't work) or that certain ISO images don't work with DISM.

    After I've done DISM thingie, SFC also managed to repair stuff. Which is what I've needed here.
