Windows 10: "A service installation section in this INF is invalid" error while installing a driver.

I'm trying to install Wi-fi driver for motherboard "Asus ROG Strix z690-f Wifi" and getting this error: A service installation section in this INF is invalid.I tried to download different versions of drivers from manufacturer, tried to use tools like Armoury Crate, tried to download installer from Intel itself, tried to remove drivers from INF/Drivers/DriverStorage folders, tried to install from folder/list; but I always get this error and cannot reinstall.NB: it was working before, but I was investigating one problem and tried to downgrade driver, aft

I cannot get a usb cable connection to my pc at all with my e63 due to this error "a service installation section in this INF is invalid"



Tried installing Ovi & PC Suite and get the same message when they try to install the phone. Connection drop out and no device appears in the software menus or in windows device manager. I've seen that this is a common problem via google but haven't found
any answer to it.The usual solution seems to be to go to device manager and manualy install the drivers but that won't work for me for obvious reasons.



Can anyone help? If I'd known I wouldn't be able to connect the phone to my PC I woudn't have bought it

 

Keep getting "a service installation section in this inf is invalid" error

My android devices aren't getting properly recognized by my computer. It runs windows 10 N (x64), and I've tried two different phones and two tablets using different USB cables and different ports.

When one of the devices is first connected, I get the message "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)".

When I update the driver (automatically or thru c:\windows\inf) I get the message "a service installation section in this inf is invalid".

I've tried uninstalling the driver, installing Media Feature Pack for Windows N (64), and installing the MTP Porting Kit. Are there any other possible fixes I could try?

If it comes to it I can do a complete reinstall of windows. I'd prefer not to if I can help it though. I already had to do a clean system restore recently because of a problem that popped up after a windows 10 update.

If the issue persists, I suggest that you try running the System File Checker tool and the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool to scan and correct any issues. System File Checker (SFC) is a built-in tool in the operating system. SFC checks for
system file corruption. Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) is a command-line tool that can be used to service a Windows image or to prepare a Windows Preinstallation Environment image.

to perform SFC and DISM:
System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files & DISM to fix things SFC cannot.
