Windows 10: A single windows essential task is taking up sometimes a very large sum of my procesor's...

So this is the task that is straight up lagging my whole PC and sometimes lags the OS out so much that its hard to shut down my computer through the desktop. While my system is lagging i cant perform basic windows tasks such as ctrl alt del. The rest runs just fine, and it usually happens when im rendering graphics or playing a video on my browser. What's up with this?Thanks!

Windows 10 Windows Defender versus Microsoft Security Essentials

Hi Bryan,

Microsoft Security Essentials was upgraded to Windows defender and it was a default security software from Windows 8. You cannot have both as they are one.

Since you get this annoying popup at the startup i suggest you to disable any Microsoft Security Essentials entries in Startup tab.

• Open the Task manager. by pressing Press CTRL+Shift+ESC.
• click on Startup tab
• Right click on Microsoft Security Essentials entry and click on Disable.

Restart the computer and check if that helps.

another easy way to kill tasks, download and install Winaero Tweaker(free) and theres a setting to add a Kill non responding tasks using the desktop right click menu. When you place your cursor on the desktop anywhere and right click the option is at the top of the list, Very handy and you dont have to go through all those steps and well Winaero Tweaker has alot of cool Windows tweaks. Just posting a different suggestion, Im sure your ok with what was suggested here.

I suggest you to Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter and check if it helps.



Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Internet connection. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your internet.

Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Internet Connection troubleshooter and Network Adapter troubleshooter.
