    Maxtor Hard Drive Beep

    Maxtor drive beeps

Have a similiar situation using a DiamondMax Plus 8, 20GB Mfg Date 4/15/03. Drive used as a second system drive. Drive is recognized in boot menu but not in drive list. Drive is always connected. Computer started locking up for several seconds at a time. Chkdsk on drives and couldn't find that drive. Removed drive from bay to make sure connections were ok and heard the beeping. Shutdown and restart and never got to windows screen. Restarted several times then saw drive in boot menu and Windows loaded but Maxtor not in drive menu. When recognized in boot menu, computer will start but beeps and is not found.

Tried kicking it real hard but no improvement. Any suggestions?

    Hard drive beeps at shutdown

I have a Seagate 3TB hard drive that puts out a single short beep just before my system shuts down. I believe It's coming from the HDD itself because even when I disconnect my motherboard's internal speaker I get the beep, and it sounds like it's coming from the HDD itself. I didn't think HDDs could beep but I called Gigabyte and they told me if I pull out my speaker from the g-connector and I still get the beep, then it's not the motherboard making the beep.

The drive is a data storage drive - I usually keep it in an external enclosure. I don't get a beep from my normal internal drives - only when I plug this particular drive in. I did get that same beep a few months ago from a couple other drives that were corrupted after problems I was having with my external enclosures. Maybe this drive also got hit with issues after being in those enclosures, but I don't know. The last time I ran Chkdsk on the drive it passed with no issues. Hard Drive Sentinel reports the drive is in perfect condition with no SMART errors. I ran Seagate Tools short drive self test, short generic and SMART tests and they all passed.

Any idea what this beep means? This makes me nervous.

Also, it doesn't beep when in my USB3 enclosure and I shut it down. When in my enclosure, I eject the drives/device with Windows safely remove icon, then flip the power switch on the enclosure. I only get the beep when it's in my PC connected via SATA.

images: for ppl that use lots of image apps

image app/site where you can it takes 2 images and auto-puts them side by side into 1 image

there was an image app a long time ago that does this, i've no idea what the name was tho
maybe there's something that is current & better

    minimal requiremetns

    1. should take a few steps (2 or so steps) just like that prevous app/site
    2. app/site needs to have a specfiic feature specifically for this
    3. should be free ofc for such a simple thing

since many ppl dont use many image apps, this may be a hard find

Lots of resources being used: I have up to 45% of my CPU and 70-85% of my RAM in use (I have 8 GB) just by doing low end tasks.
