  1. A very long windows boot time that seems to be caused by my new 165hz 1440p monitor

About a week ago I started to get this problem where my windows would take a long time to boot sometimes even taking 2 hours. A few hours ago I decided to take my pc to my sim racing setup where I have my old monitor, It booted into windows in 30 seconds like it used to. I recently updated drivers and it seems that the issue started the next day. Could it possibly be a display adapter driver that installed that might be hindering my pc booting to windows?

    Very long boot-times with DVD-drive?

    Hi guys,

got a lil problem here. My machine takes very long to boot. It sits @ that windows-knight-rider screen and the blue line is crossing about 10-12 times before anything happens. Yesterday i had to disconnect my DVD to connect my reserve hdd and see... it boots after
3 or 4 times of that line passing. Is that coz i got a bad driver or bad firmware there....Don´t know if driver makes difference coz i think windows got 1 generic and it don´t affect my secondary DVD drive... any suggestions?

  3. Horrible font rendering with Samsung 1440P monitor.

I can post up pics if you want, but in most apps the fonts look horrible. I even tried reinstalling windows 10 completely!! Still bad.

My (hopefully) temporary workaround, at least for Explorer, was to change the system font to Consolas. Renders better.

Samsung says it is not the monitor because when I boot into Linux or when I tried running MacType it looked fine. It seems to be the method or hinting and aliasing Windows 10 uses in conjunction with this monitor.

Help? S24H850QFN is the monitor. There is no driver for it. Uses default Windows driver.

Note, I owned an Asus monitor that was 1440P that I had to dispose of because of an issue with a capacitor. I though "any 1440P monitor should work" and Samsung has a decent reputation. There were no issues with font rendering on the Asus.

SMSSInit causing long boot time in Windows 10 with SSD drive

I upgraded my Lenovo G770 laptop to Windows 10 a month ago and in the last few days I migrated my C drive to a Samsung Evo 850 SSD drive as previous boot times were becoming very annoying. I had thought moving onto the SSD drive would work wonders, but boot
    time is still horrible.

I've gone through various sites and forums and tried numerous suggested steps without any joy.

Found a very informative article on the event viewer so went through it's suggested steps. Which led me to a critical event ID 110 - below:

    Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance/Operational
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-Diagnostics-Performance
    Date: 9/27/2015 4:11:54 PM
    Event ID: 110
    Task Category: Boot Performance Monitoring
    Level: Critical
    Keywords: Event Log
    User: LOCAL SERVICE
    Computer: F1-Laptop
    Description:
Session manager initialization caused a slow down in the startup process:
    Name :
    SMSSInit
    Total Time
    : 82915ms
    Degradation Time
    : 72915ms
    Incident Time (UTC)
    : ‎2015‎-‎09‎-‎27T15:08:45.868751200Z

Problem is, I've no idea what it's trying to do here and there are no further details given.

Any gurus out there can point me in the right direction or let me know what additional information I can give to help you identify the possible issue?

    Many thanks in advance!
