    A white box appears on my taskbar and I can’t type in the search bar or other websites


    Hi! I have a gateway but the version is windows 11 and when I go to the browser and try to type I can’t. There’s a white box around the three dots on the taskbar and I can move it with my arrows keys and tab key. It doesn’t show up anywhere else but on my browser but I can’t type anything on any website or on my pc. I can’t type in games either like for example ROBLOX. It takes me a couple tries to type a letter because I have to press they key multiple times and sometimes that doesn’t work at all. It also interferes when I go to type in my pin. However, it comes and goes. When it does random

    New White Search Box Appeared on Taskbar This Morning After Update

    Version 21H2

    I'd like to remove it from my taskbar, so I tried right clicking on the taskbar>Search>Show search box but that didn't work

    Thank you for posting your response in Microsoft Community.

    I understand your concern about search box in Windows 10.

    Please try the below and check if you can see search bar on taskbar:

    Steps:

    • Right click on Taskbar, move the mouse cursor on to
      Search       option.
    • Select Show Search icon (You will see Search icon beside Start)
    • Select Show search bar (You will see Search bar beside Start)

    Check with the above and let us know if it helps, we will be happy to help you.

    'Type here to search' (the cortana search box) have appeared white and it remains white !! Why??? Is it an issue?

    Sorry, it did not help at all. I executed the Powershell commands, rebooted, and the search box is white.

    The problem is on all my various computers, so I'm doubting it is some kind of installation problem. I think there is a bug with Cortana.

    I noticed that even if I reboot and the box is initially dark, like it should be, if I click into the search box (which turns it white), it fails to go dark again after dismissing Cortana. So I think there is a bug in the code.

    I am on the latest version of Windows 10 (1709).
