Windows 10: abiword

trying install abiword 3.0.5, currently have 2.8.6. the upload is ok but it never gets to the install,, no exe file produced by the upload.any ideas thanx..running windows 11 24h2 26100 2605

AbiWord for Windows

I am an Ubuntu 20.04 in most instances. While at my local library, I am forced to use Windows. I am a writer and use the AbiWord word processor on Linux. To avoid any complications when reformatting the text format from .abw to .doc or any other text file format, I would prefer to use AbiWord on Windows as well. Unfortunately, the AbiWord site states that due to a lack of developers on Windows, there are currently no distributions available to download from their site.

Are there any other repositories out there that would allow me to download an older version of AbiWord for Windows?

I am hoping that Windows can get new developers to work on AbiWord. It is just a simple word processor with few bells and whistles. I cannot imagine it would eat up many resources to get the word processor back up and running.

I am aware that it would be a simple process to reformat the .abw text files to something that is compatible with Windows; as I am frequently moving back and forth from Linux and Windows, I would prefer to keep consistent with the .abw file format.

AbiWord is a great little word prosessor thats TOTALY FREE, i personaly like it better then MS WORD, and its FAR smaller then openoffice *Smile
also it has compression formats build in to save space when saving files.

give it a try, its a great little app *Big Grin and supports most os's *Big Grin
