  1. Able to Ping but not able to connect in Windows explorer.

We are moving to a new NetApp NAS. We did a cutover of one of our servers last night and are trying to change the host record of the old server tin DNS to point to the new NAS server address to allow the old embedded links to work. We are able to ping the new address but in Windows explorer it is not able to find the new NAS. I am getting the name cannot be found. If I do a Net Use I get an error 59. I tried creating entries in the HOST file for a few of the servers and one will connect and the rest will not. Doing a ping and a NSLookup shows the correct information.

    :)

    internet connection problem- help

If the desktop downstairs is running XP Pro as well,I would check all the setting on it are the same as on yours.

Start in Network Connections and check everything step by step.

If you goto Start >> Run and type CMD

Then type- ping (your router ie:192.168.1.1)

are you able to ping your router?

    Not Able to login

    Hi,

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

Please confirm the following things for me.

    1. Is your system connected to the internet? You can check this through the network icon at the bottom left corner of your login screen.
    2. What error message are you receiving when you login with your Microsoft account?

I would suggest you to login to
    http://login.live.com/
with your Microsoft account and check if you are able to sign-in with your credentials.

If you are able to sign-in with your Microsoft account on the live website, you can follow the steps in this article to ‘Start
your PC in safe mode in Windows 10
’, kindly follow the steps in the section ‘From the sign-in screen’ and check if you are able to login to your system.

    We await your response.

  4. Able to Ping but not able to connect in Windows explorer.

Able to ping network path but not able to map network drive on Windows 10

Pinging a network drive is one thing and mapping it is another. Pinging uses TCP/IP protocol, while Mapping requires TCP protocol and NFS Protocols.

    • Verify if NFS protocols are enabled on your network drive (by default it is already enabled in Windows 10).
    • What network drive are you using (NAS, external hard drive, etc)
