  1. Abnormal CPU temperature at idle. Low demand games are lagging after update.

My laptop has been idling at 95C +/- after I run a game and it does not even get back to normal long after I am done playing games. Low demand games like DOTA 2 used to run smoothly with about 100+ FPS, I am getting 20-30 FPS now. Lowering settings does not help. Even crappier laptops run this game smoother than my laptop now. It was all good and it all went downhill after windows update. I tried system restore, it fixed the issue but the restore point was replaced with another one and now I am stuck with this. Resetting PC without removing my files did not help. I also got thermal pasted reap

    :)

  2. my windows 10 pc suddenly starts lagging playing games for a while

Okay, let's check the temperatures using an app called HWiNFO64. You can download it from this link: HWiNFO64 Download.

    Here's a step-by-step guide:

    1. Download the Installer:
      • Go to the HWiNFO64 download page and download the installer.
    2. Run HWiNFO64 in Sensors-Only Mode:
      • Open HWiNFO64.
      • In the initial window, select the "Sensors-only" option and click "Run."
    3. Locate CPU and GPU Temperature Sensors:
      • Once the sensors window opens, you will see a comprehensive list of all the sensors in your system.
      • For CPU temperatures, look for entries like "CPU Package," "CPU (Tctl/Tdie)," or "CPU Die (average)," depending on your CPU model.
      • For GPU temperatures, look for entries under the GPU section such as "GPU Temperature" or "GPU Hot Spot Temperature."
Please monitor the temperatures while you're gaming and let me know how they are when the game starts lagging.

  3. Sudden low fps and cpu usage in all games

    Hi Alexandra Solomonidou,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

It seems like you are experiencing sudden low FPS and CPU usage while playing games on your laptop. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Power settings: Ensure that your laptop is set to high-performance mode and not on power-saving mode. Sometimes, power-saving settings can limit the performance of your CPU and GPU.
    2. Graphics card settings: Check your NVIDIA control panel settings and make sure the games are set to use the dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti) instead of the integrated graphics. You can usually access the control panel by right-clicking on your desktop.
    3. Temperature monitoring: Monitor the temperature of your CPU and GPU while gaming. Overheating can lead to performance issues. Use software like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to check the temperatures and ensure that they are within safe limits. If the temperatures are too high, consider cleaning the laptop's cooling system or using a cooling pad.
    4. Background processes: Even if you don't have any obvious background apps running, some processes may still be consuming system resources. Check the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and close any unnecessary applications or processes that might be running in the background.
    5. Windows updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches. Sometimes, outdated operating systems can cause compatibility issues with games.
    6. Game settings: Verify that the in-game settings are optimized for performance. Lower graphics settings such as resolution, anti-aliasing, shadows, and textures can help improve FPS.
    7. Reinstalling games: If the issue persists, try reinstalling the games that are experiencing low FPS. Sometimes, game files can become corrupted, leading to performance problems.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be worth contacting the technical support of the games you are experiencing problems with or reaching out to the manufacturer of your laptop for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, if you have any questions, please feel free to leave us a message.

    Best regards

  4. Abnormal CPU temperature at idle. Low demand games are lagging after update.

Low CPU util on CPU-intensive games.

Hello, My name is Erfan. I will help you with this.

There could be several reasons why the CPU is in low utilization while playing games.

Games use more GPU than CPU because the GPU is designed to handle the graphics and rendering of the game, while the CPU runs things like physics and shadows. Games that require heavy graphics processing, such as Cyberpunk, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Control, are very GPU-heavy. Increasing the draw distance on a match will likely tax the CPU more than the GPU.

If your GPU is not powerful enough to keep up with the demands of the game, it can bottleneck the CPU, which will also lead to low CPU utilization.

Game resolutions, in the low resolutions you will experience high CPU utilization and in the high resolutions, low CPU utilization.

Let me know if that did not help. Thank you.
