Windows 10: ABOUT A CORRUPT DEVICE: Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB

Hello. I need help fixing a corrupt driver or Plug and Play ID named PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_09AB&SUBSYS_012D14C0&REV_00\3&11583659&0&B8 that came from a performance monitor diagnosis. How can I fix it?

Performance Monitor: A device has reported a 'Not OK' status (Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB)

I recently purchased a new DELL Alienware Aurora R13 computer (Windows 11 Home) and ran the Performance Monitor just to status it. I got the following error:

Over in the device manager, Storage Controllers, Intel RST VMD Managed Controller 09AB Properties, the device status is listed as:

"No drivers are installed for this device."





But, if you check the driver tab, you can see that the device is installed:





I checked with the Alienware support team and they are convinced that there's nothing wrong and that this is a bug in Windows. They say the correct driver is installed (there is no updated driver, either).

The bug, according to them, is that the device is incorrectly reporting a bad status (indicating that the device is not there), when in fact it should be reporting:
"The device is working properly."

Has anyone else seen this and/or is this a known problem in Windows 11? Even though the device appears to be working just fine, I want to make sure that this is indeed the correct driver for this controller.

Do you have the Intel Rapid Storage Technology app installed on your PC?

If you install/open it, does it function correctly?

Also, do you have Alienware Update installed and have you run it to ensure you have the latest driver/firmware/BIOS updates? (you can find the downloads for it here: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ca/000187189/dell-update-alienware-update)

If Intel RST itself is working fine, and you're up to date, then I'd say the Dell/Alienware tech support is probably right.

They installed the Intel RST driver and app with me and it appears to be functioning correctly.

Yes, I have version 4.3.0 of Alienware Update installed and I also have their DELL Support Assist and it appears to do the same thing ensuring that I have the latest drivers/BIOS updates, etc. Everything is currently up-to-date.

Thanks for the info and at this point I'm hoping someone from the Windows Development Team sees this.
