  1. About disabling and reenabling microphones

So I wanted to disable my internal mic for a while back and I did so by first turning it off for all apps from its menu, then when I found out about better methods I also opened the device driver menu and disabled from there, and after that I went to what I think is device properties and disabled from there as well, and doing this caused the mic to disappear form the device drivers list.

Now my question is if between from after disabling from device driver and going to device properties if I accidently clicked the test button for the mic and moved on doing the rest of what I did, what would happen? It shouldn't open up anything or do anything or record at all, and if I re-enable the mic through everything I mentioned nothing should be wrong or there shouldn't be a backlog of test audio in a cache somewhere else saved about to mess up anything I try to record or use the mic for later, right?

I don't know if this question sounds weird im just curious if this will cause any weird glitches. I don't have access to the laptop at the moment but once I get back ill reenable the mic and if you have any suggestions on what tests I could perform or what should I do to check if everything's working. I'm just worried its been recording for en entire day without my knowledge and filling up space or its going to do some weird glitches and mix the audio up with anything new I record.

    :)

    Easy enable/disable microphone?

My bro just got a microphone and I was wondering if there's an easy way to enable or disable it. I know you can right click on the volume icon, click on select recording devices then select the microphone, then click properties, then click on levels, and mute it - but that's just way too many steps, I'm looking for a more obvious and much easier way to do it.
