Windows 10: Access 2013 Runtime 32bit will not install

Okay. So, background, we use 2013 32 bit access runtime for our application. On a brand new, fresh Windows 10 64 bit pro install, for whatever reason this app will no longer install. It brings up MsiExec.exe / Kernelbase.dll errors in event viewer. Trying this on windows 11 i have zero issue. Installing this on Windows 10 64 bit ver. 1809 worked. I am hoping to see if anyone has some clues for me. Crystal Decisions always installs 64bit runtime but 32bit is needed

VS2017, .NET framework 4.5, WinForm app, C#, Release set to 32bit, development machine is Win10 64bit.

I have installed the deployment plugin and created an install project. All of the dlls referenced in the primary output are found at C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86\dotnet\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll

There are no 64bit dlls for example \win64_x64\dotnet\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll. I have asked SAP for them but no luck. They won't even admit they exist or don't exist. Very strange.

Every time I create a setup package and install the program on a different Win10 64bit machine the install goes to SAP and pulls down the 64bit runtime engine. The reports will not run unless the 32bit runtime is installed.

Everything in the solution is set to 32bit. Why does this get the wrong SAP runtime? Thanks.

 

Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package (x86) install fails

The software is buggy. If later versions of MS Visual C++ runtimes are installed it fails to detect them and tries to install earlier versions which breaks those MS Visual C++ runtime installations.








Allowing the install to continue doesn't allow those runtimes to install (because you can't install an earlier version over a later version) and it breaks the already installed versions. (They now show as 0 bytes)

I cannot test to see if the program will run (I suspect that it won't work anyway) as I don't have MS Office.

Suggest:

Remove those two VC++ Runtime versions if they already exist and reboot. Then try running the Dymo installer and see if it will install the earlier versions of VC++
