Windows 10: Access denied for a folder

Hello,Recently windows 10 in my laptop crashed. There was issue with Hard drive. I could transfer the data from the HD. I got new SSD hard drive and a new version of Windows 10 in the Laptop. I converted the old removed HD as external HD. I connect it to the Laptop and to copy the data. I am successful to copy the data from my personal folder. However, I have some data on desktop folder. I wanted to assess the Users folder in the removed hard drive. However, I could not access it as I get Permission denied. Kindly guide me to retrieve the data from the desktop. Thank you

There are times that you may run into the issue of being unable to open or access or work with files and folder. The common message that flashes on your computer screen when you try doing so reads: "Access Denied."

This can occur for one or more of the following reasons:

• The folder ownership may have changed.
• You do not have the proper permissions.
• The file may be encrypted.
• The file may be in use.
• The file may be corrupt.
• The user profile may be corrupt.

To resolve this issue, the first step is to run CHKDSK. It detects and fix disk corruption. To run CHKDSK, follow these steps:

• Press Win+X.
• Select Command Prompt (Admin).
• In the window that opens enter your CHKDSK command.

Unable to access a folder, it denies permission

LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied.

I am trying to share a folder on a LAPTOP. I have other a number of other systems that have folders Shared and they work fine, but with this one I get the error "LAPTOP is not accessible ..... Access is denied." when I try to access it from a different Win10 system. So I went thru the entire "How to Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10" tutorial step by step. File and Print Sharing is enabled, SMB1.0 client & server are running, and Everyone has Full Access to the Share. Still get the error. I have tried it with the Network Public and Private, with the same result. Any suggestions ? Microsoft Windows 10 Home Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042
