Windows 10: Access denied to disk

I right click on run. Type in cmd. When the box comes up I type chkdsk and I receive a message that says "Access denied as you do not have suffient privileges or the disk may be locked another process. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode and make sure disk is unlocked." What do I do? The computer is running windows 10 and is over 10 yrs old. i do not have any of the disks etc anymore.

Whenever I connect any pendrive or hard disk it says access denied for pen drive I googled got the solution for pendrive but I need to follow the steps everytime I connect give me the permanent solution and steps for hard drive access denied

This can occur for one or more of the following reasons:

• The folder ownership may have changed.
• You do not have the proper permissions.

To resolve this issue, the first step is to run CHKDSK. It detects and fix disk corruption. To run CHKDSK, follow these steps:

• Press Win+X.
• Select Command Prompt (Admin).
• In the window that opens enter your CHKDSK command.
