  1. Access denied to everything

So I just got a new laptop with windows 10 and I can barely even use it because my access is denied to everything or my folders aren't writeable. Basically I tried to install a steam game and update and it told me the steam download folder wasn't writeable, so I looked up solutions and a common one was to turn off "read only" on any folders giving issue, so I tried to do that and it keeps telling me I don't have permission even after I run as an admin. I checked and the account I'm using on the computer is indeed an administrator, I also tried disabling my antivirus and it made no difference. Strangely, the issue has gotten progressively worse over time, it started where I just couldn't open one steam game, but then it continued into not letting me access steam, not letting me install new programs, and not being able to edit folder settings. I'd really appreciate the help, I'm not really a tech kinda girl and I ALWAYS have this sort of thing happen to me. :c

    Access denied to everything

net user administrator /active:no keeps saying access denied.

    Hi Rebekah,

It's possible that you're not using an elevated command prompt, causing the Access Denied error. We suggest following these steps to properly disable the built-in administrator account:

    • Right-click the Start button.
    • Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Copy and paste net user Administrator /active:no and press
      Enter
. If the command isn't successful, please post a screenshot so that we can study it further.

Let us know if you're able to hide the administrator account after following these steps.
