Windows 10: Access denied when trying to make win Defender automatic update/scan.

It's a group policy that I must have set when i wasnt using Defender because now that I'm trying to use Defender it won't auto update or quick scan automatically.

I'm looking for a registry key value to keep it simple and avoid as much trouble as possible. But any solution welcome.

Google isn't much help(probably my fault) and give me basic answer like "enable it".

Windows Defender not completing scans

Method 1: Set Windows Defender to Automatic

You can set the Windows Defender service to Automatic, Disabled or Manual. Setting it to automatic might solve the problem. Follow these steps:

  Click Start > type services in the Search box > click Services in the Programs list.
  
  2. Search for Windows defender.
  
  3. Double-click Windows Defender, and click Automatic in the start-up box > click OK.

Method 2: Run SFC scan, it will check, if there is any kind of corruption on the operating system.

  Press WIN+X.

  Click on command prompt with admin.
  
• 
  Type sfc /scannow and press enter.

  Reboot the computer once finished.

Hi,

To further assist you with your concern with Windows Defender, follow the steps below:

• Open the Run window by pressing Window + R button.
• Then type services.msc and hit "Enter".
  
• Look for Windows defender service in the list and right click on it and select start.
• Once Windows defender is opened try to do the offline scan on that window.
