Windows 10: Access Denied

OK - Another "Access Denied" issue. I know, I know...


Anyway. I'm actually battling OneDrive sync issues on an old but up to date HP notebook in another user's account. Specifically, the Pictures->iCloud->Uploads directory. The permissions for it are "d---------", meaning of course that there is no access allowed. As Administrator, I attempted to take ownership of the file, and *any* and *all* security operations result in the error "Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied." In linus/UNIX, this wouldn't be any big deal. I'm familiar with the ACL issue in Windows vs. Permissions in linux.


So like any <old> System Administrator, I attempted other approaches. Using PowerShell, I attempted to force delete the directory rmdir -force; rd /f; etc etc - failed.


So then I went out to try some opensource utilities, like chmod.exe Swear I used to have such a utility - previous versions of Windows, no doubt, Attribute Magic, Force Delete, Unlocker, etc - all failed.


I'm at the point of considering installing cgygwin or bringing up a new WSL on the machine - but that all seems like a whole lot of work impact to delete one unused directory / tree from one users user profile.


Any last minute suggestions before I embark on this path? BTW, my intent in all this is to make this old notebook a "dataless" node, referencing all data, including "Pictures" from the users' OneDrive store - so I'm really only attempting to get to a clean "dataless" directory structure before syncing it up to OneDrive a significant shortcoming of OneDrive, BTW/IMO - unable to specify what repository is "master," so that any data "merged" from a newly added device doesn't add data to OneDrive - even old data that's been deleted from OneDrive and other equipment previously. All very frustrating and undocumented, I believe - but that's a different issue.

Change Folder Destination access Denied

Thanks.

After following the steps suggested, I get the message "Access denied" in command prompt.

Please advise how to allow permission.

Whenever I connect any pendrive or hard disk it says access denied for pen drive I googled got the solution for pendrive but I need to follow the steps everytime I connect give me the permanent solution and steps for hard drive access denied

 

net user administrator /active:no keeps saying access denied.

It's possible that you're not using an elevated command prompt, causing the Access Denied error. We suggest following these steps to properly disable the built-in administrator account:

• Right-click the Start button.
• Choose Command Prompt (Admin).
• Copy and paste net user Administrator /active:no and press
  Enter. If the command isn't successful, please post a screenshot so that we can study it further.

Let us know if you're able to hide the administrator account after following these steps.
