  1. Access The Same Website Locally And Remotely By Binding It To Port 443

There is a requirement to implement IIS 10.0 Site STIG V-218748. As per the STIG's fix text, for the site hosted under IIS Server, assignment of hostname entries and unique IP addresses to port 80 for HTTP and port 443 for HTTPS, has to be done. Other approved and documented ports may be used. Below are the system details where this scenario has to be incorporated: Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Version 21H2 OS Build 19044.4651 Microsoft Edge Version: 128.0.2739.79 Official build 64-bit In our organization, we have many systems, each of which has IIS and just one Default webs

    TCP - Remote ports 80 and 443?

Under resource monitor > TCP connections, I've noticed quite a bit of activity on remote ports 80 and 443.

I decided to track several of these IP addresses and whilst some are expected (Microsoft, Amazon (Firefox)), there were a few which went to other mainly web hosting services. Is this normal and expected?

    Is it just routing through?

    whitelisting url on port 443

    Hi Dexter,

Thanks for your help. It's appreciated.

I'm just trying to be able to use a VPN to access a public network. Those instructions you refer me to seem to make the port accessible, but there's nothing about a specific url. Does that mean anything that uses that port will bypass my firewall? Is that
    safe?

    Thanks again,

    David

    whitelisting url on port 443

Hi David, I am Dexter, an Independent Advisor, here to help you.

I assume you're in a private network and trying to use VPN to access the public networks, am I right?

If so, the whitelist to a specific URL on port 443 may mean you should set the firewall to allow 443 port to be accessible.

You should open the control panel and then add rules to allow TCP 443 port, please follow the steps refer to this article:

How to Open Ports on Windows 10 PCs

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
