    Access to Local AppData

    In short,

I've developed an office add in that uses Local AppData folder to log (using Log4net) as well as produce dynamic dlls. Last year August I had our first incident of a user not being able to write to the AppData location. It seems to be an Access Denied issue. I thought it was possibly a configuration issue by the systems admin, however, this has now happened at 4 other clients.

The Windows build is 1709. All 4 clients have confirmed Windows Defender and Bitlocker was turned off. They all run different Anti-Virus. They are all domains as these are corporate clients.

I would like to know if any change has been made to UAC with regards to Local AppData in a windows update. The closest information that I could find is that Windows Defender has a new feature that was released called "Controlled Folder Access" which could possibly be a cause. It is proving difficult to get access to our clients infrastructure (it is in financial services and thus would be problematic) and without being able to reproduce the issue it is impossible to fix.

    :)

Possible to access data no longer stored in AppData/Local/Temp?

A few months ago I downloaded data somewhere and it was stored in C:/Users//AppData/Local/Temp. However it is no longer there as only files up to a few months ago are listed there. Is there any way at all I can access data stored there prior to a few months ago?
