  1. Accidental Deletion of Hosts.ICS iCalendar File Information

    Hi All,

I accidentally deleted my computer's information from my hosts.ics iCalender file and need to add it back in... but I'm not sure where to find the information to add and how to add it back in.

How can I fix this file? The file is as follows with a note added-in at the bottom:

    # Copyright c 1993-2001 Microsoft Corp.

    #
    # This file has been automatically generated for use by Microsoft Internet
    # Connection Sharing. It contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names
    # for the home network. Please do not make changes to the HOSTS.ICS file.
    # Any changes may result in a loss of connectivity between machines on the
    # local network.
    #

    Thanks for your time.

    :)

    Modern setup host

    Hi Hermie,

Regarding your concern with the deleted Modern Setup Host file, we’d like to ask the following questions so we can isolate it at the same time:

    • What particular action that you’re trying to perform at the time that it was accidentally deleted.?
    • May we know where and how it was deleted on your computer?
    • Were you able to check if the deleted file can be found in the
      Recycle bin?

As an initial step, we suggest that perform a DISM command. This will help repairing possible system file corruptions. Follow these steps:

    • Type command in the search box.
    • Right-click on the result and select Run as administrator.
    • Type this command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • Press Enter.
    • Close the Command Prompt windows and check if changes were made related to the Modern Setup Host file.

We'll wait for your update after trying the steps.

  3. Hosts file editing

I have to jump in and say I use, and have used the host file for years. It's an easy way to take stress off of old name servers. I don't add everything, but major shares I do add to the host file. I've used the host file for some tunneling as well. I try to optimize my network as much as possible and I have a solid network. But Easy Rhino is right as well, you'll want to have everything he suggested as well. *Toast :toast:

Subscribe and sync to an iCalendar feed with WP 8.1

I have an HTC One M8 with WP 8.1. I officiate sporting events and have my assignments come to me through ArbiterSports. I can now receive my assignments via an iCalendar feed and would like sync the iCalendar feed directly to my outlook.com account and
ultimately have the information on my phone. I have tried to do this by subscribing to the iCalendar feed directly in the outlook.com website and the information is loaded into my online calendar. However, the information is not synced to my phone. Am I
missing something or is there a disconnect between outlook.com, the syncing of the iCalendar, and my phone? I can import the iCalendar information into the online calendar, but I don't want to have to do this manually year round.
